Welcome to Understanding the Environment for Secondary schools

During an initial trial of the system, Key Stage 4 practitioners have advised us that Understanding the Environment covers many of the topics which are found on a number of GCSE syllabuses, in particular science and geography.

The practitioners suggested that it would be helpful if a teacher's guide was produced which referenced each syllabus to the system. The practitioners also felt that additional benefits could be provided by student worksheets which dealt with specific syllabus topics.

In view of the Manchester trial click here for more information, it was decided to start with the Northern Board syllabuses in science and geography.

In time, we would like to cover all the examination boards and generate further worksheets.

We hope that as more schools start to use Understanding the Environment more teachers will get involved in developing links to other syllabuses and producing student worksheets and that everybody will be happy to share what they have produced to enable this web site to grow.
